IPL sensation and T20 candidate, spinner Varun Chakravarthy’s place in India’s T20 squad is under threat.
Apparently, he has failed to clear the mandatory fitness tests.
As per a reliable source, Varun was unable to clear the YoYo test mark stipulated for a 2 km run at least twice.
The Indian team, under Virat Kohli has set high standards for player fitness and it’s hard to see Varun making a comeback in the T20 squad until he improves his overall fitness.
India’s five-match T20 series against England starts in Ahmedabad on March 12.
Varun was included in the squad as he had recovered from his shoulder injury that ruled him out of the Australia series.
He also completed his rehab at the NCA and started throwing normally.
However, the lack of match practice is probably reflecting on his overall fitness levels.
We hope the talented spinner bounces back as soon as possible.
