The T20 World Cup is hardly a month away. There has been a lot of talks and a lot of speculation on who will make it and who will not make it into India’s T20 World Cup squad that leaves for Australia next month. One of the biggest positives for team India will be that Virat Kohli is back in form. He has been India’s only shining light in what was a disappointing Asia Cup.
Captain Rohit Sharma has also shown signs of coming back into form. He played some small knocks but he looked quite good batting against both pace and spin. His impressive knock against Sri Lanka will give him a lot of confidence. Surya Kumar Yadav and Hardik Pandya also had a good tour. They will know that they could have finished the tournament better but that’s how the game of cricket is.
One of the biggest talking points will be the form of Dinesh Karthik. He was not given many games in the competition. Memes have been making the rounds that he went to the Asia Cup as a finisher but ended up playing only 1 ball and was even made to bowl one over.
Jasprit Bumrah and Harshal Patel have regained fitness after their respective injuries and are expected to be a part of the squad. Bumrah especially has been one of the best bowlers in this format for a long time now. The biggest question will be about who will join him in the bowling attack.
Will it be Bhuvi & Shami or maybe Arshdeep and Deepak Chahar might also be given a chance? Yuzu Chahal is expected to be selected and Ravi Bishnoi has also done himself a world of good with many impressive performances.
The finisher’s slot is also quite competitive. Pandya, Karthik, Axar Patel, Jadeja & Thakur are all potential candidates and only a few will be selected. The Indian team’s balance relies heavily on Jadeja. But the all-rounder is injured and his participation in the World Cup is doubtful.
Will Ashwin be considered for the squad given his experience and quality?
Will Ishan Kishan be the wild card that the Indian think tank has been saving for this while?
Stay tuned as we get you live updates about India’s T20 World Cup Squad.
