Rajasthan Royals defeated Delhi Capitals by 3 wickets as they chased down the 148-run target with two balls left.
It was RR’s first win in IPL 2021.
DC posted 147 for 8 after being asked to bat first.
They lost 3 wickets cheaply – Shikhar Dhawan (9), Prithvi Shaw (2) and Ajinkya Rahane (8), with the score at 36.
However, skipper Rishabh Pant fought back and top-scored for DC with a 32-ball 51, studded with 9 fours.
Lalit Yadav (20) and Tom Curran (21) were the only batsmen to contribute.
The bowling hero for RR was veteran, Jaydev Unadkat who returned with the figures of 3/15.
In his IPL career, he has picked up 19 wickets against Delhi which is the joint 5th most by a bowler vs DC.
Mustafizur Rahman chipped in with 2 wickets – Marcus Stoinis and Tom Curran.
Mustafizur’s ball that dismissed Curran was a wonderfully disguised dipping yorker that slid under and directly hit the stumps.
Chetan Sakariya also bowled an excellent last over, conceding just 11 and finished with 0-33 in 4 overs.
Dismal start by Royals
RR started poorly, losing three wickets inside four overs, including skipper Sanju Samson, Manan Vohra and Jos Buttler in their pursuit of the 148-run target.
Rishabh Pant pulled off a stunning catch off a beautiful in-swinger by Chris Woakes to get rid of Buttler.
However, David Miller put RR back on track with a fighting innings.
Miller top-scored with 62 off 43 balls that included 7 fours and 2 sixes.
He was ruthless against Marcus Stoinis, slamming three much-needed boundaries on the trot, that took the score to 73/5 after 13 overs.
However, it looked like a lost cause when David Miller fell with the score at 104 for 7 wickets.
That’s when big-money signing Chris Morris stepped up his game.
Morris slammed 36 off 18 delivers, with 4 sixes, to hand a terrific win to the Royals.
With 27 needed off 12 balls, Morris attacked Kagiso Rabada, collecting 15 runs in the 19th over.
With 12 required off the last over, Morris took Rajasthan home, with three wickets and two balls to spare
For DC, Avesh Khan (3/32) picked up three wickets while Chris Woakes (2/22) and Kagiso Rabada (2/30) bagged 2 wickets apiece.
