The Cincinnati Masters also known as the Western & Southern Open for sponsorship reasons is one of the biggest tournaments in the Tennis Calendar. The Cincinnati Masters is an outdoor hardcourt tennis event. It is played in the city of its inception in Mason, Ohio which is near Cincinnati. The Cincinnati Masters dates back to the September of 1899 and has been played every year since then. It is one of the most important, awaited and biggest tournaments as far as Tennis is concerned.

Just like the previous years, this year too will be a special one as all the best tennis players from all over the globe will be trying to get their hands on this prestigious trophy. The Cincinnati Open date is scheduled to be played from 14 August 2022 to 21 August 2022. The tournament will be played on hardcourt. This is one of the best tennis tournaments in the world so we can expect it to be a grand spectacle.

Let us look at the favourites to win the 2022 Cincinnati Open –

Rafael Nadal

Whenever any list of favourites is made for any tennis tournament, Nadal is the name that goes first. And this really can’t even be a surprise, can it? He has been there and done that. And he has been there and been doing that for a while now. Nadal has already won the French Open and Australian Open this year and he is in some really fine form. He will be looking to continue more of the same and keep adding more silverware to his humongous collection. The King of Clay will be looking to show his class yet again and he is one of the red hot favourites to win this year’s Cincinnati Open too.

Daniil Medvedev

He is the World’s no 1 player for a reason. Danill has been in some absolute fine form over the years but he did sleep up in the Canadian Open. Maybe that will give him an added dose of motivation to make it bigger in this tournament. Medvedev won the Cincinnati Open in 2019 and he is a very dominant player on hardcourt. This is why he is second on this list and is tipped to be one of the contenders to lift the trophy.

Carlos Alcaraz

He might just be 19 but he already has made a name for himself. He is currently the 4th ranked player in the World and he is just getting started. He will be looking to make it his stage and seize the opportunity to win a big tournament like this at this young age. The 19-year-old Spaniard has been in some red hot form and he is too good when it comes to hard court games. He has 12 out of the 16 matches on hardcourt this season and he has already won the Miami Open. He will be looking to do something similar in this tournament.

Casper Ruud

The Norwegian star has been in some mind-blowing form. Even though he is a better player on clay, he can be a decisive force even in hardcourt also. He is having a great season this year. He has already reached the finals of the Miami Open and also the semi-finals of the Canadian Open. However, he has two very tight games in the opening stages, if he can get past those games, his chances of winning might just improve drastically.

Hubert Hurkacz

Hurkacz is having a great 2022 so far. He has been in some brilliant form and he will be looking to make sure to continue that run. He has won the Halle Open, reached the semis of the Miami Open and also helped Poland to reach the semis of the ATP Cup. He might just be the dark horse of the Miami Open considering how well he has been playing this year.
