His all round show where he scored 175* and also picked up 9 wickets helped him dethrone Jason Holder from the number 1 spot. Jason Holder had held this position since February 2021.

“Ravindra Jadeja’s performance at India’s recent Test win against Sri Lanka in Mohali has catapulted him to the no. 1 position in the MRF Tyres ICC Men’s Test Player Rankings,” the ICC said in a statement.

His batting and bowling performances also helped to improve his batting and bowling ratings in the latest ICC rankings. His batting ranking rose 17 places from 54 to 37th and his 9 wickets helped him to move up to the 17th place with the ball.

Will he continue his fine form? We certainly hope so!

“I’m thrilled to have the opportunity to play for Surrey in the Vitality Blast this year; one of the few competitions around the world I’ve not experienced in my career,”

“The stint I enjoyed with Oval Invincibles in 2021 gave me a taste of how unique playing in front of a packed Kia Oval crowd really is. My aim is to entertain as much as possible this year and hopefully ensure the Club challenges for the trophy.”

West Indies vs England, 1st Test: Jonny Bairstow’s 140 redeems England after a shaky start

After winning the toss and opting to bat first, England were in all sorts of trouble at 48-4 after a very shaky start to the match and the series. But as they say – cometh the hour, cometh the man. Jonny Bairstow decided to take the onus on himself and steered England’s ship to safety and played a brilliant knock of 140 runs that included 21 boundaries.

Thanks to his fightback, England managed a score of 311-10 and are still in the game even if they are slightly behind. At the end of day 2, West Indies are 202-4 trailing by 109 runs with 6 wickets in hand.
