Chennai Super Kings beat Royal Challengers comprehensively at Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium to rise to the top of the points table in IPL 2021.

Skipper MS Dhoni opted to bat on winning the toss.

The highlight of the match was a stunning all-round performance by Ravindra Jadeja.

Jadeja smashed 62 off 28 balls, including 37 runs in the 20th over with the help of five sixes and a four off purple cap holder Harshal Patel’s bowling.

As a result, CSK scored an imposing 191 for four.

CSK were helped by the fact that their opening pair came good.

Leading the way was Faf du Plessis who scored 50 off 41 balls and shared a first-wicket stand of 74 runs with Ruturaj Gaikwad (33).

For RCB, Harshal Patel was the most successful bowler, yet again with figures of 3/51, which included the 37 runs scored by Jadeja in the last over of the innings.

In reply, RCB could only manage 122 for 9 in 20 overs, falling 69 runs short.

Of course, Jadeja wasn’t done yet.

He also shone with the ball and finished with brilliant figures of 3/13 in four overs, including taking the vital wickets of AB de Villiers and Glenn Maxwell.

Jadeja’s also got rid of the potentially dangerous Washington Sundar, who took the aerial route and holed out to Ruturaj Gaikwad on the boundary.

The Jadeja show continued when he also dismissed Dan Christian run out with a direct hit!

Imran Tahir lent him good support, taking two wickets for 16 runs in his 4 overs.

Sam Curran and Shardul Thakur registered a dismissal each.

With this win, Chennai can also boast of the best run rate in the league (+1.612).

Jadeja’s 3/13 with the ball and 62-run blitz earned him the Player Of The Match award, which came as no surprise!

Chennai Super Kings 191 for 4 (Jadeja 62*, du Plessis 50) beat Royal Challengers Bangalore 122 for 9 (Padikkal 34, Jadeja 3-13) by 69 runs.
