Chris Gayle holds the record for the most sixes in T20 cricket, smashing an incredible 1,056 sixes in 463 matches. Kieron Pollard comes second on the list with 879 sixes in 678 games. Another powerful West Indies player, Andre Russell, is third, having hit 705 sixes in 519 matches.

Nicholas Pooran, also from the West Indies, ranks fourth, with 551 sixes in 356 matches. Pooran has hit more sixes than fours in his T20 career. His fours tally is 509 while sixes are 551. He averages 28.35 with the bat and has two centuries to his name in this format. Colin Munro from New Zealand is fifth, hitting 548 sixes in 428 games. Munro has hit five centuries in this format and has the highest score of 114 not out. He has scored 10,961 runs in this format and averages 30.44.

 India’s Rohit Sharma is sixth, with 525 sixes in 448 matches. Sharma has hit eight centuries and has hit a 35-ball century against Sri Lanka as well. That innings included 10 sixes. He led Team Mumbai to five titles in the Indian T20 League as well. He also led India to the 2024 T20 World Cup title, post which he retired from the format. He jointly holds the record of scoring the most centuries in international T20s, having scored five. England’s Alex Hales follows closely in seventh place, hitting 521 sixes in 475 games. He has scored six centuries and has a highest score of 119*. He helped England reach the finals of the 2022 T20 World Cup as he scored 86* in just 47 balls against India in the semi-final. 

In eighth place is England's Jos Buttler, who has hit 500 sixes in 424 matches. Jos Buttler hit four centuries in the 2022 Indian T20 League which places him along with Virat Kohli to have scored the most centuries in a single season of the tournament. He has scored one century in international T20, achieving the feat against Sri Lanka in 2021. Australia's Glenn Maxwell is ninth, with 499 sixes in 447 games. Glenn Maxwell has also hit seven centuries in T20s and has a highest score of 154* which he scored against Hobart Hurricanes in 2022. Rounding out the top 10 is New Zealand’s Brendon McCullum, who scored 485 sixes in 370 matches. Brendon McCullum scored 158* in the opening match of the Indian T20 League in 2008 which included 13 sixes. He has hit seven centuries in his career and scored 9922 runs in his career. 

The West Indies dominate the top four spots with Chris Gayle, Kieron Pollard, Andre Russell, and Nicholas Pooran. India have only one representative in the top 10, Rohit Sharma. England is represented by Alex Hales and Jos Buttler, while Australia have Glenn Maxwell. New Zealand features Colin Munro and Brendon McCullum in the list. Notably, no players from Pakistan, Bangladesh, or Sri Lanka have made it to the top 10.

Kieron Pollard, another powerful West Indian hitter, is known for his love of clearing the boundary. He has smashed 879 sixes in 678 T20 matches while representing numerous teams across the globe. With 13,157 runs to his name, Pollard has also registered a century in the format. Notably, he is one of the select few players to have hit six sixes in a single over in T20 cricket. A proven match-winner, Pollard's explosive batting has made a significant impact on nearly every team he has played for.

3: Andre Russell: 705 sixes in 519 games

Andre Russell ranks third on the list with 705 sixes in 519 T20 matches, showcasing his immense power. In addition to his six-hitting skills, Russell has amassed 8,736 runs in the format, including two centuries. His explosive batting is reflected in his impressive strike rate of 169.10, further highlighting the dominance West Indian players have enjoyed in T20 cricket.
