A two-match IND vs BAN Test series will kick off action on September 19. Led by Rohit Sharma, the Indian team for the first Test includes stalwarts Virat Kohli, Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja while Rishabh Pant and KL Rahul will make their comeback in the five-day format. Pacer Yash Dayal, notably, has earned his maiden Test call-up. The Bangladesh squad is yet to be announced.
The two matches are a part of the ICC World Test Championship 2023-25 where India is currently atop the standings with 68.52% points after six wins, two defeats and one draw in nine matches. Rohit Sharma and Co. are slated to play eight more Tests after the Bangladesh series in the WTC 2023-25.
Bangladesh, on the other hand, are fourth with 45.83% points after three wins and three defeats in six Tests. The Bangla Tigers have only four matches remaining in the current WTC cycle.
Incidentally, India have never lost a Test against Bangladesh, winning 11 of the 13 previous matches.
The IND vs BAN T20Is, meanwhile, will be conducted from October 6. The two-time T20 world champions have won seven of their eight matches in the format since their latest title in June this year.
Bangladesh, who have won just one of the 14 T20Is in this head-to-head, last played this format at the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup in June, where they lost all three of their Super Eights matches.
