An Amazing Year For Killer Miller
What a year it has been for David Miller. He was struggling for form at the start of the year. It was even doubtful if he would make it to South Africa’s XI for the T20 World Cup. And then the IPL happened. In a year of mega auctions and his string of failures in that tournament also made his selection very doubtful.
However, there was a twist of fate and he was eventually picked by Ashish Nehra’s Gujarat Titans. And what Nehraji did with that team of individuals will never be forgotten. A new team, not the best of squads, a struggling captain, most struggling players – And before you know it, they won the Indian Premier League quite easily.
David Miller was instrumental in that win. He helped his team chase mammoth totals and showed signs of the old Killer-Miller we know. He soon became a prominent member of the South African squad too and has played some amazing innings since then.
In this edition of the CPL, he was made the Captain of the Barbados Royals and he has hardly put any foot wrong winning 6 out of 6 games in a 6-team tournament. If that isn’t amazing, we don’t know what is.
Trinbago Knight Riders lose another game, Will they qualify this time?
TKR have had one of their worst starts to a CPL season where nothing seems to be going right for them. They have tried everything. In the last game against Barbados, Pooran was sent to open the innings instead of Narine. Even that was a failed move as TKR started folding against the spin of Cornwall & Mujeeb. Pooran was the sole fighter as he scored 52 runs in 43 balls and helped them reach 132. In reply, Kyle Mayers smashed TKR bowlers to all parts of the ground scoring a magnificent 79 runs from 36 balls. Barbados Royals registered their 6th successive win of the tournament.
Trinbago Knight Riders are not entirely out of it but they will need some help from all of their players together if they want to make a serious comeback in the series. They have been there and done that in the past.
Where do you think TKR will finish in this edition of the CPL? Do let us know in the comments below.
