Australia’s ODI captain, Aaron Finch was one of the unsold players at the IPL 2021 auction.

This raised a few eyebrows as Finch is seen as one of the big names of the limited overs format.

But Finch seems to have gotten over the incident and moved on.

Finch admits that going unsold at the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 Player Auction wasn’t totally unexpected.

Finch was part of Royal Challengers Bengaluru which has been one of the under-achievers of the competition.

Last month, he was released by the franchise. Admittedly, his performance in the 2020 tournament fell short of expectations as he managed just 268 runs from 12 matches.

Said Finch, “It would have been nice to be playing again. It’s a wonderful competition to be a part of but it wasn’t unexpected that I wasn’t picked up, to be honest. I’d prefer to be playing cricket, but a little bit of time at home won’t be the worst thing.”

However he is putting the time to good use, preparing to take on New Zealand in a five-match T20I series, starting from Monday in Christchurch.

“I’ve been working a few technical things; trying to get a little bit less weight on my front foot. At times I can get a little bit flat footed and my feet get planted then I struggle to move again – I have my initial movement then I get a little bit stuck,” he said.

We hope to see Finch back at his best very soon.
